Security Tips

Unfortunately in society today, almost anyone can become a victim of crime, statistics show that people who have been targeted once are more likely to be targeted again.

Visible Intruder Alarms, CCTV, locks/grilles and Security Lighting are all an excellent means of deterring potential thieves.

Good lighting makes it harder for intruders to go unnoticed. However, if your premises is not particularly visible at night, extra precautions may be required:

  • Always fit good quality locks on external doors and windows.
  • If required use a good quality safe and keep it out of sight.
  • Don't keep large amounts of money on site and try to vary your routine.
  • For retail premises consider carefully the best position for the till.
  • Control stock tightly and limit access.
  • Use anti-graffiti paint on surfaces that may attract graffiti and clean up any graffiti or any damage to your property promptly.
  • Train your staff to be alert for suspicious behaviour.
  • Administer procedures for staff to record incidents of crime.
  • If you're a sole trader going away for several days, ask a friend or neighbouring business to empty your post box.
